BJJ FAQ’s

  • If you are fresh to BJJ and want to start your first class, we recommend the BJJ Fundamental class. This class is a Gi (uniform) class that caters for beginners.

If you are more interested in No-Gi (no traditional uniform) then you can trial either of the No-Gi classes we offer.

  • BJJ Fundamentals - We will provide you with a Gi jacket and belt to wear for your first class. Wear something that is comfortable for exercise. Please ensure that you have no zips or buttons as they can damage the mats.

No -Gi - Just wear something comfortable, preferably shorts and a t-shirt with no buttons or zips. If yo have a rash guard this would be ideal.

Also a great idea to bring a towel and a drink.

  • Yes we run 2 kids classes per week on Tuesday and Thursday 4:15 to 5pm.

These classes cater for kids ages 7-12 and run for 45 min.

We have membership options for 1 or 2 classes per week.

  • There is no expectation on any of our members to compete in BJJ competitions. We have many members that train BJJ for a range of reasons and have never competed once.

  • Depending on whether you do Gi or No-Gi classes will depend on what gear you need.

Gi - for our Gi classes you will need a BJJ Gi and Belt. (we will lend you a Gi jacket for your first class) You can purchase a Gi from us or from any other retailer you like.

No-Gi - you will require a rash guard and a pair of grappling shorts. These shorts are light weight and have no pockets, buttons or zips and are designed for grappling sports.
